MWI 2023 Committee’s Vice Chairperson: “This Tournament Is a Platform For Pro Female Prayers to Reach for Their Goals”

To celebrate the opening of the MWI 2023 tournaments, a press conference is held on Monday (6/2). The tournament is a Southeast Asia-wide, women’s-only Mobile Legends tournament.

Ginta Kamka, Vice Chairperson of the MWI 2023 Committee, was attending the press conference to give his statement about the event. This tournament by itself is a part of women’s-only tournaments held by KINCIR this year after IWC 2023 which was held last January.

He explained that KINCIR is indeed having a vision to grow the nation’s esports industry especially for the female players. He intended to give a platform for them in order to compete just like their male counterparts.

“KINCIR aims to develop esports industry which give all players the chance to compete equally, regardless of their gender, all the way to the international-level tournaments. On the last IWC 2023 tournament, Bigetron Era came out as a winner after defeating other 11 participating teams, and they will become one of the Indonesia’s representatives to compete for the MWI 2023 champions title,” said Ginta.

He then continued the statement by saying that Indonesia’s esports growth has really advanced in the past two to three years. This thing, he said, could happen due to the number of nationals and international-scale tournaments which was held here in Indonesia.

“If we look back to two or three years ago, we found that esports grows significantly. Besides, there are so many events, be it nationals or international-scale, being held in Indonesia for the last few years. This shows the potential of esports to become a feat for the players. That’s the reason why KINCIR wanted to facilitate players and esports enthusiasts alike to reach for their achievements,” spoke Ginta.

More specifically, Ginta added that the current number of Southeast Asia’s female gamer population has reached its all-time high. That became his intention to facilitate these female players to reach for their goals in the esports scene just like their male counterparts do.

“The reason why KINCIR works together with Moonton to organize this MWI 2023 tournaments, is due to the fact that statistically, 38% of the total 1.3 billion population of gamers in Southeast Asia, are women. This number is very close to the number of male players’ percentage. Moreover, we also want to showcase these female players so they can do well and no longer ashamed with the male players’ skills. We begin this effort by holding a women’s-only event to continue holding more event in the future just for them,” concluded Ginta.

Keep rooting for the Indonesian reps in the 2023 MWI tournaments and stay tuned for the latest news from the event!
